Voy...   I'll go...

“Heme aquí, envíame a mí.”

No quieren reconocimientos.

(Neh 11:2)

"Here I am! Send me."  (Isaiah 6:8)

My first attempt at a sermon was on Isaiah 6:1-8. The meeting was just a handful of people, fortunately. I picked the passage because I thought Isaiah was awesome... the way that he responded to God's call. I should be like that.

These days I look at it and marvel at how God works in us so that we want what He wants. He does it all. Yet, he let's us raise our hand and say, "I'll go!" Then He rewards us for wanting to.

The kingdom of God rides on the shoulders of an all volunteer army.

The funny thing is, a volunteer army gets it done better than a bunch of paid professionals... and with a bigger smile on its face. There is a well of untapped ability and hard work in the heart of a volunteer.

People lead busy lives and have solid commitments from week to week. It is the same where I live. So it is always amazing watching volunteers invest extra hours and effort in their church, for the benefit of others who need Christ or for the good of a new disciple.

It is easy to recognize the volunteers. You only have to ask them once. They aren't competing with anyone. They don’t defend their territory as if it were their own. They shy away from recognition. They are as happy teaching as they are wielding a shovel or a pickaxe. Sometimes they even beat you to it and ask, "what needs to be done"?

I don't know what I enjoy more: watching new people learn about Jesus or the volunteers that make it possible.

"And the people blessed all the men who willingly offered... "  (Nehemiah 11:2)

Yes...! As of July 5, 2020, my book is now available on Amazon.com.
It's a new book about an old problem: the cross and the crown… the Gospel and politics… do they mix? Should they mix?
If my words generate some reflection and healthy conversation—as in more light and less heat—I will be satisfied.
