Vasos de barro... Clay pots... #1

(Apoc 3:20)

"But we have this treasure in jars of clay,"  (2 Cor 4:7)

Breakable, susceptible, fragile: words that describe all of us. To live exposed to all kinds of danger is our daily portion. In some things (health, finances,...) we try to minimize it. At best, we postpone the inevitable. In other things, (violence, germs, accidents, earthquakes...) we are subject to the mercy of the Creator.

There are many gray days in which if it depends on how we feel, we won't make it to the next day. Pain takes many forms, demands attention, distorts our perspective, drains what little strength that we have.

If you look inside of an ordinary clay jar, you won't see it to be more beautiful than on the outside. It does not hold the secret to life. If someone could look inside of us, they would not find it there either. If only we were just empty and nothing more. But, no... each of us is a boiling pot of passion, insecurity and a thousand other things. Well… sin...

What did the Apostle Paul say? "For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh.”  (Rom 7:18)

There is no treasure hidden in your inner self. Meditation, incense and soft music... you might attain the quietness of an empty jar, but little more. The treasure in believers is Christ. He knocked on the door of our hearts and we let Him in.

Stop looking inside yourself… Answer the door, instead.

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” (Re 3:20)
