“Buscad a Jehová y su poder; Buscad siempre su rostro.” Salmos 105:4

Juan 6:44

¿Quién busca a quién?

“Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.” Psalm 105:4

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.” John 6:44

Who looks for whom? Does God seek us or must we go looking for him?

It's kind of like explaining the Trinity… or a koan in the Zen tradition to point the way to an illumination that smashes logic. Here comes another enigma: commanded to seek God while warned that we are incapable of it.

Truly, there are things to accept by faith... not a blind, gullible sort of faith, but a humble faith. If I accept that there is a God, then I acquiesce to the fact that he is a bit smarter and deeper than I. There are things that I should just trust him about and move on.

God made provision for finding us long before we thought about him. That alone should compel us to try to find out what he did before we decide what we want to do. He had our best interests in mind for life and eternity. Why mess with that?

If you are still reading this, it is likely that you and God have already found each other or are at least in the process. Dead people show no signs of life. (Ephesians 2:1-3)

We should not bolt after our first encounters with him, even though they are quite distasteful. We are going to feel less than comfortable around a holy God who requires perfection and purity if we want to get closer to him.

Some of us will need more convincing. When things happen that were absolutely never on our agenda, we should keep God's motive in mind: “until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face, and in their distress earnestly seek me."  Hosea 5:15

However it plays out in each person, He is preparing us to answer his call when it comes.
  • When we hear, "repent", we will bow before Him with no need to ask why.
  • When we hear, "believe the Gospel", we will be overjoyed with the prospect of a full pardon and a brand new life.

Yes...! As of July 5, 2020, my book is now available on Amazon.com.
It's a new book about an old problem: the cross and the crown… the Gospel and politics… do they mix? Should they mix?
If my words generate some reflection and healthy conversation—as in more light and less heat—I will be satisfied.
